This is the best "hands on," behind the scenes experience with Australia's nocturnal wildlife. This up close and personal tour led by a knowledgeable zoo keeper will give you the chance to meet koalas up close and encounter unusual nocturnal creatures.
Taronga Zoo Wild Australia Experience
Go on an unforgettable journey, where you get to meet the wild animals of the Australian bush up close and personal. On this excursion you can visit the koalas, enter the underground burrow of the common wombat and explore the mysteries of the platypus. You will learn about koalas, the rare Tawny Frogmouth Owl, the endangered Australian Bilby and even meet a family of tiny Feathertail Gliders or cuddly Ring-tailed Possums.
Your experienced zookeeper will teach you about the special adaptations, that enable these animals to thrive in the Australian environment. You can learn about animal habitats and the current conservation activities of Taronga Zoo. You will also get a unique hands-on introduction, to some of the most unusual nocturnal animals from behind the scenes of the Australian Nightlife exhibit.
This tour is suitable for visitors of all ages who seek to learn about Australian wildlife, with a hands-on approach that lets you get as close to the action as possible. After this fun and educational tour, enjoy a light morning or afternoon tea. Full day access to Taronga Zoo and the Sky Safari cable car is included with your tour.
Please Note: This tour has a maximum of 8 guests. The tour duration and departure time is for the guided walking tour. Your ticket includes admission to the zoo and access to the Sky Safari cable car and guests can arrive at any time during the opening hours. Transportation is not included in the tour price, so you can come and go at will. The zoo is open from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM in winter (May to August) and from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM in summer (September to April).

Depending on where your ship docks, a 5 minute walk followed by either a 12 minute or a 35 minute ferry ride (not included in excursion price) from the cruise pier.

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and sensible, flat-soled walking shoes. A hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen is suggested.
Restrictions
The zoo is located on a slope. Although it is wheelchair accessible, guests should have someone with them to push. Wheelchairs are available to borrow for free at the zoo with advanced notice at time of booking. Strollers are also available for an additional charge. Children 3 years of age or younger may attend the tour free of charge.

Mr. Miller is the former Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer for Abercrombie & Kent, the World's leading luxury travel company. In that role, Mr. Miller was responsible for contributing to Abercrombie & Kent's international growth through the development and acquisition of tour products and travel experiences around the world with a specific focus on cruising and land based experiences. Prior to joining Abercrombie & Kent, Mr. Miller held a variety of executive positions with Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises for more than a decade. These positions included Vice President of Guest Sales & Service, Vice President of Brand Development, and Vice President of Onboard Revenue (which included shore excursions). Mr. Miller also led Celebrity Expeditions, a collection of outstanding and unique tours around the World.
Michael Bonner
Mr. Bonner has over a decade of experience working in the cruise industry in a variety of roles for both Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and Viking River Cruises. Most recently, Mr. Bonner was the Chief Operating Officer for The Scholar Ship, a Royal Caribbean program aimed at providing college students onboard educational programs in conjunction with enriching shore excursions around the world. Mr. Bonner also helped co-manage Viking River Cruises U.S. Operations, and he ran the corporate, strategic, and deployment planning functions at Royal Caribbean. While at Royal Caribbean, Mr. Bonner was responsible for forming Royal Celebrity Tours, Royal Caribbean's land-based tour operation in Alaska, which takes cruise passengers on multiple day tours through the interior of Alaska either before or after their cruises.
